We are looking for a UX/Game Designer to join our growing team in Madrid, Spain. This is an opportunity for a current junior Game Designer with some experience in the industry with a heavy focus on UX.
At aheartfulofgames we value independence and flexibility on a mostly horizontal organizational structure. We develop several projects at the same time and this position will, at first, be in charge of part of the UX and overall design of IRONSKINS, an in-house developed Turn Based Strategy game. The project is scheduled to have a year left in-production once the position is filled, and afterwards you will work on other projects within the company. We are looking for a permanent hire that can further expand and strengthen our design team.
As a Game & UX Designer you will work alongside the existing Design Coordinators and our Art and Code teams to rework, design and implement a new, consistent UI/UX flow for the game. Furthermore, being in charge of UX, you will be expected to tune and polish visuals and gameplay, making sure the experience is engaging for its intended audience. You will also be in charge of designing and validating tutorials as well as overseeing narrative coherence.
Because of our size, structure and ethics, we are looking for a very hands-on UX Game Designer that is not afraid of a technically complex project, who can research tools and processes as needed. But most importantly we want somebody who can work with the whole team to ensure the game stays true to its vision and remains tightly knit.
-Experience as a Game Designer in at least one released project.
-Experience with UI design/implementation.
-Ability to write and understand complex technical documentation (tools, processes, etc…).
-Work experience in Unity.
-Up to date knowledge of techniques, processes and software used in game design.
-Knowledge of project management tools (Trello, Jira, HackNPlan…).
-Excellent communication skills.
-Fluent English and Spanish.
-Experience in strategy games.
-Passion for mech combat.
-Design, coordinate and integrate a new UI/UX flow.
-Work on tuning and polishing the existing game UX.
-Advocate for and improve the game’s visual feedback.
-Most of our team works on a hybrid schedule. This is decided on a person-to-person basis.
-Very flexible working hours.
-Permanent, full time contract.
-Great working environment.
