2Awesome Studio is an independent game development studio and indie publisher whose mission is to add awesomeness to reality by developing video games with new and addictive mechanics and finding games that are equally awesome to publish. The selected candidate will be working with our development teams in our internal game development project:
- Altered Alma, a 2D Metroidvania with RPG and romance elements set in the city of Neo-Barcelona
- Future games in our IPs.

Minimum requirements
- Experience as a game designer who has worked on the production of a released game. Minimum 5 years of total experience.
- Ability to create concise and clear documentation that communicates a game’s design vision.
- Deep knowledge and experience with Unity. You are able to prototype your own designs efficiently in the engine.
- A good understanding of level and combat design in action 2d games.
- Robust and up-to-date knowledge of the game industry.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written (English is the language used in the day to day in the studio, and it is a must).
- Ability to break down and explain game systems from a design point of view.
- Good knowledge and experience using spreadsheet software (Google Sheets, Excel) in order to set up, balance and tweak game economies.
- Strong collaborative skills.
Desired requirements
- Experience designing a 2d metroidvania or 2d action games (combat platformer).
- Design knowledge of live ops and analytics usage.
- Knowledge of RPG, Roguelites, and Metroidvania design is a plus.
- Juice is not only your breakfast but your game design mantra.
- Ability to code simple scripts in order to create design prototypes in Unity.
- Good eye for art is a bonus.
Duties
As a game designer, some of your main responsibilities will include:
- Design mechanics, systems, entities, economy and levels in collaboration with the team to achieve the game creative vision.
- Implement the agreed designs in Unity.
- Act on internal and shareholders feedback to constantly improve the game design.
- Digest analytics data and turn it into actionable design decisions.
- Help us test and analyze the weekly game builds, preparing feedback on bugs, game balancing, etc.
- Produce high quality design documentation.
